Bella (Italian for beautiful) stands unapologetically naked before the world. Her silent display challenges generations of body oppression. Her radical self-love stands out as a light against the darkness.

Artist Note: While reading Sonya Renee Taylor’s The Body is Not an Apology, I was inspired to create a body that did not hide behind details. It was surprisingly difficult. Why was it so hard to let it be? Would people accept something so ‘brazen?’ The parallels of creating Bella to many of our self-acceptance journeys were intriguing.  I encourage you to explore the feelings that come up while viewing this piece!
